What is it?:
Cramp Bark (Viburnus opulus) is best known as a women's herb that helps to relieve pain from uterine cramping. This anti-spasmodic, pain-relieving effect extends throughout the lower region of the body, to include the lower urinary tract (ureters, urethra, bladder, and testes) as well as the gall bladder & bile ducts-- any spasmodic pain that starts in the groin and radiates down the thigh... this herb can also be used to relax the bronchioles (think asthma/wheezing/dyspnea) as well as the nervous tension & anxiety (i.e. "emotional" spasms", so to speak).
What is it good for:
- uterine cramping
- spasmodic pain in the pelvic region and urinary tract
- asthma/wheezing
What else you might like to know:
It is important to understand that herbs work by restoring balance to the body. This means that you usually have to take an herb or a formula for a longer period of time than you would with pharmaceuticals in order to get results-- usually at least a month, and often times longer than that... it all depends on the individual and the nature of the ailment being addressed.
